Julia Holter - Maxim's 1
Tom Jenkins | Monday 12 August, 2013 11:57
Immerse yourself in lush orchestration and blissful hiss as outrageously talented LA songstress Julia Holter takes you on a trip back to an early 20th century Paris ruled by the chattering classes. Maxim’s 1 is taken from her new album Loud City Song, her first for Domino, out August 19. Both said track and LP are inspired by the classic 1958 Lerner and Loewe musical Gigi and those who turn up to see Miss Holter next week (August 20) in the antiquated surroundings of Cecil Sharp House in a sweaty band t-shirt and grime-bleached trainers will, if there’s any sort of poetic justice in the world, be ushered away by burly bouncers clutching ornate folding fans.
