Economy so bad now that people can't even afford beer

Mike Pollitt | Tuesday 26 July, 2011 09:57

The Standard reports that beer sales are down by 10% in the three months to June.

Brigid Simmonds, chief executive of the British Beer and Pub Association, said: “Beer sales are a barometer of Britain’s economic confidence”.

So true. A confident nation is a drunken nation. A thrusting, dynamic Britain should be throwing up on the Eurozone’s new suit and pissing in the corridors of the IMF, not tucked up in bed with a mug of cocoa and an austerity package. I don’t even know if I want to contribute to an economy which could let this happen. For shame.
