John Rogers | Sunday 5 May, 2013 19:30
This week, SNIPE is looking at the musicians playing the Brainlove Festival, Saturday 11 May at the Windmill Brixton.
Now: Tom Milson
1. Hello! Please introduce yourself to our readers. Who are you, where are from, and what do you do?
Hi, I’m Tom Milsom, I’m a dude from East London and I weld intricate pop songs together in my bedroom. I’m currently working on an album called Organs.
2. You’re playing BRNLV FSTVL on May 11th – have you played before, or if you haven’t, have you any expectations?
I have played before, last year I played outside and did a looping thing with a Casio, but I’ve come a long way in a year, and this performance should be bigger in every way.
3. Could you give us a Soundcloud link of a recent single or track, and tell us about it plz – recording, writing, subject matter, whatever seems most important?
Take Me Out is the first single from Organs. Despite the fact that I recorded it locked away in my room in the middle of winter, it’s a languorous summery song about how sunlight is a simple and natural cure for depression, at least for me.
4. The BRNLV label is 10 this year. Do you own a Brainlove Record? Do you have a personal favourite?
I’ve always had a soft spot for Pagan Wanderer Lu’s European Monsoon, but Mat Riviere’s album from earlier this year is a real corker too.
5. Do you have any tours or releases coming up? What’s next?
The Take Me Out EP’s available for pre-order right now on iTunes and Organs will be out this August.
