Urge to Use “Sarah Palin” and “Abort” in Same Sentence Too Great for The Telegraph

There was a time when the term “abortion” had another meaning. I guess. It must have been a long time ago. Waaaaaaaaay before when I wasn’t aborted. The word “abort” even now has ways it can be used that aren’t associated with terminating a pregnancy. The dictionary gives this sentence as an example:

We aborted our vacation when the car broke down.

Of course, nobody ever phrases things in such a way because fortunately there are words that are kind of synonymous with “abort” like “cancel” or “halt” or “scrap” that don’t inspire dead fetus imagery. Don’t take my word for it — take the thesaurus’s.

And then go ahead and pass that thesaurus link on to The Telegraph, who just couldn’t pass up the juicy opportunity to “gotcha” the anti-abortion queen by saying that she aborted something. Nobody cares what it is that she aborted, mostly because it wasn’t herself.

Classy move guys.
