Our only hope now is an Indian Summer. The last weeks have been a disappointment. Rain. Darkness. Cold. It’s perhaps appropriate then that Miracle Fortress, the brainchild of one Graham Van Pelt, have chosen this time to grace our shores. New album “Was I The Wave?” is a watercolour bleached continuation of the Beach Boys inspired electronic pop of previous album Five Roses, an album whispered in the same breathe as Neon Bible and The Reminder. But where Five Roses was all joyful and light, Was I The Wave? is a little more crowded, a little more worried in its outlook. As the weather continues to disappoint perhaps we can take comfort in music – Van Pelt’s company could be a perfect solace.
