The BNP mayoral candiate wants "a British Britain". He's Uruguayan.

I have no problem with Carlos Cortiglia’s Uruguayan birthplace, nor his Italian and Spanish ancestry.

But come on now. Surely this is self-parody?

This is man whose blog contains the following passage:

Look at the partition of Yugoslavia. What has been the argument about who owns Kosovo? This is bound to happen in Britain, especially because they [immigrants] have been building ghettos that usually have their own language, their own customs and their own values. One day, we might find ourselves having to decide who own Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester, Liverpool and parts of London like Towers Hamlets and Barking and Dagenham or even London as a whole.

The BNP revel in their own hypocrisy:

“So much for ‘xenophobic’!” British National Party chooses Italian for London mayor.”

But the joke only goes so far. Here’s Carlos talking about Marion Thomas, a former BNP admin worker who contributed to a BBC Panorama programme about the party’s finances:

“She allowed herself to be used by the British Broadcasting Corporation and after her spiteful show of hatred, having used the word ‘scum’ to accuse others, she ended up with her reputation in ruins. She spat upwards and her spat covered her own face.”

Ugh. Anyway he’s on the ballot, so you can vote for him if you like.
