ShortList Announces New Editor from NME, Poops on Women’s Day

What do you know. When you give things away for free, sometimes people are more inclined to try them.
While that hasn’t exactly been my experience as far as sex-life is concerned (I can’t give this stuff away!), it’s certainly been working for ShortList. Their free, weekly, glossy, less boob focused entry into the men’s magazine sector has been one of the rare print success stories of late, coming to be market dominators in just over three years. They’ve won awards, vastly expanded readership, and proved that sometimes, men actually want to read about something other than Lucy Pinder.
We do, however, question the wisdom behind their latest move. Not announcing Martin Robinson as their new Editor. That all seems… fine. No, we’re talking about the release of their new manly fashion bi-annual MODE — on the eve of international women’s day. Seriously. They starting handing out 250,000 copies of the thing during rush hour right on the one day a year that women get to be front and centre.
Smarten up, men!
