Duke of Uke 5th Anniversary and Fundraiser

Six strings bad, four strings good…

Ukulele heroes The Duke of Uke have been booted out of their Shoreditch home and are looking for somewhere new to settle and resume growing tiny guitars. Last night saw the first of three fundraising events at The Crypt at Christchurch in Spitalfields. Tonight will see Darren Hayman (whose website looks like a discount furniture store) A Little Orchestra, The Pocketbooks, Pete Astor and Lisbonne. Advance tickets at £8 will go towards a new lease, with a very limited number of seats. Go to www.dukeofuke.co.uk for tickets.

Tomorrow, however, is the big day. From 1-10:30 pm a dozen acts, including the London Dirthole Company, whose roster appears to include just about every musician in town and probably half their audiences, too. This one-day music fest is £12 for the same cause.

St Swithin says we have forty days of sunshine coming to us, so why not start it off with a little ukulele salvation?
