The Wave Pictures record Jason Molina tribute

Often, when one discovers an amazing artist posthumously there’s an element of kicking oneself but also a feeling of great gratitude – it’s as if the artist has left their personal musical legacy for your perusal only. Sadly, much-loved Indianapolis singer-songwriter Jason Molina (pictured) of Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. passed away last week, at the painfully young age of 39. Über-fan David Tattersall and his band The Wave Pictures have recorded a tribute to Molina, covering nine of his tracks: The album’s available here and all proceeds go to Jason’s family to help with the cost of his treatment.
A full tribute album featuring Will Oldham and Daren Hayman is currently in production. Contribute to Jason’s memorial fund via Paypal here – we’re off to explore his imposing back catalogue.
