This year’s Big Butterfly Count is well under way, and here is a spectacularly useful map of the results collected so far. Have a play and see what you can find near you. In the meantime, take a look at these pretty ones I’ve plucked from the map to get you started.
Holly blues in Stoke Newington
Love ivy plants, FYI.
Gatekeepers on Hampstead Heath
The most common London species in 2010.
Red Admiral at the Houses of Parliament
They fly over the channel from France, for goodness sake.
Peacock at Peckham Rye
Showing off.
Commas in Bow
A personal favourite.
