Victoria Park lake finally has some water in it again

It may only be stagnant rainwater, but it’s a start. Plenty of juvenile pigeons and a variety of gulls seemed to be enjoying it. It still looks butt ugly though, as evinced by this pic of the lake’s Plutonian shore.

Only 13 months ago a monster carp was hauled out of the waters by a local angler, but since then Olympic beautification plans have made the place unbearable for man, bird and fish alike. But now the rains have returned, and we should all celebrate in the appropriate primal fashion.

Also good to see: they’re planning some wildflowers.

So maybe Victoria Park can throw off it’s reputation as a dead zone for biodiversity after all. Usually the only creatures found stirring there are magpies, hipsters and show dogs.
