He says: “This winter I decided to drop out of my school and travel the country to stay with friends while I blog/write full-time. I’m doing this because think I’ve found my lief purpose in blogging, and I’m stubborn about doing anything else. If you want to support me in following my dreams, and you don’t really need a t-shirt, then I am very very grateful for your donation. Thank you so much friends. Your support means so so much to me. I am working hard to be your poet.”

AU Mixtape
This fantastic mixtape came to us courtesy of the lovely people at Leaf Label. It’s by AU, creators of difficult-to-describe, post-everything, symphonic, kaliedoscopic music as heard on their mind-blowing 2008 album, “Verbs”. This mix features a characteristically diverse selection that goes from Blackalicious to Skeletons to David Thomas Broughton along the course it’s 19-track journey.
The new album, “Both Lights”, is out this week, and they play the Shacklewell Arms on April 25th.

Alexander's Festival Hall - Upturned (Simon Bookish Remix)
After posting the wonderful “Upturned” last week, we now have for you a quite fantastic parcel of remixes.
The centrepiece is a remix by the phenomenally talented London musician Simon Bookish (pictured). He constructs a hypnotic composition based around that slippery, charming chorus melody, dousing it in choral harmonies, piano, pipes and an undertone that sounds a little like a musical saw, or ringing crystal. It’s a detailed, sensitive reworking, full of surprising, subtle arrangements. We await the next Simon Bookish album with baited breath.
This gem is backed with a lovely Vatican Motel remix that adds some sunny accordion flourishes:
And a Zachary Gray version that’s directed squarely at the dancefloor.

Alexander's Festival Hall - Upturned
Alexander’s Festival Hall, the project of one Alexander Mayor, has been on our radar for a while. His album is fast approaching, and this delightfully light-hearted, smart single brings to mind a distinctly English Magnetic Fields – we dare you not to lose your heart to the gorgeous liftoff of the chorus.

Zebra and Snake - Money In Heaven
We love this Finnish alt-pop duo. Money In Heaven is the shiniest jewel in their sparkling collection, and finds them doing what they do best – putting a human heartbeat back into synth-pop. There’s a reason this genre was at it’s best in the 1980s; it still referred to the kind of emotions found in the music that had come before. Zebra and Snake have distinct traces of religious music in their sound, courtesy of Tapio’s strict Lutherian upbringing in rural Finland, and they freshen up the classic synth-pop template with youthful energy. The album, “Healing Music”, is out in May.

Konx-Om-Pax
This young Glaswegian chap supported Snipe favourite Blanck Mass up in Newcastle this week; in fact, we found out about him through Blanck Mass’s enthusiastic tweeting.
It’s interesting stuff – hypnotic loops with processed sounds and vocal samples with wobbly tape-texture samples set against harder electronic sounds. You can hear more of his work on Soundcloud.

Sleep Party People - Chin
Staggeringly good Danish dream-pop band Sleep Party People have unveiled the first single from their forthcoming record “We Were Drifting On A Sad Song”. “Chin” is a narcoleptic pop song with enticing synth layers and a deep underwater feel to the production.
There’s more info on the record and a pre-order button (£8!) here. They play at White Heat on April 17th.
