Conservative Councillor Calls Cops on Daffodil-Picking Children

Ever been in the situation where the police came to your flat over a noise complaint filed by a neighbor, and wondered why this neighbor didn’t just knock on your door and ask you to turn the music down themselves? Well, a similar situation just happened in Whiteclife Park, Poole, except instead of loud music it was two little girls picking daffodils.
Ms Erringdon said the children, 10-year-old India, Olivia, six, and Sienna, four, had been enjoying a day out in the park.
She said police had been watching the family for about 20 minutes before approaching them.
“Had we known it was a criminal offence then we would not have let them do it,” she said.
“We have all picked up flowers and made daisy chains and we thought that’s what they were doing.
“They weren’t ripping up bunches and bunches, they are two little girls with tiny little hands.”
Sounds harmless, right? Nope. So not harmless, in fact, that the police were called AND ACTUALLY CAME. Seriously. The police heard to that two little girls were picking flowers in a park and responded to the call.
While that fact alone is unbelievable enough, consider the position of the full grown man who called them.
Mr Adams said: “I frankly think it was a proper response.
“Poole is a beautiful place, we have three green-flag parks and these flowers are for the pleasure of the public.
“If everyone started to pick them we wouldn’t have them for anyone else to see.
“If you want to pick flowers you grow them in your own garden.”
Mr. Adams, whose house overlooks the park, is not entirely off base about the picking flowers in your own garden part. It’s a ridiculous position, but OK. He likes the flowers in the park. He’s entitled to that.
But evidently he didn’t feel entitled enough to do something about it himself.
