Has someone spiked the London Fields lido? Hackney Council say it's "tripping out"

The Lido has lost it. Too much summer sun? Or have a few of the locals been pushing it to try something a little harder. The Hackney Citizen reports:

On 9 June Mr Saunders [a concerned swimmer] says he witnessed “an explosion, a flash and bang” from the water jet’s cable…The council has attributed this incident to a residual-current device “tripping out”.

I think the Lido needs a urine test.
