Last chance to save Greenwich market
Darren Atwater | Monday 6 September, 2010 15:30
That beautiful market in Greenwich, that twee one in the town centre that has been there for 300ish years? It’s ugly and it has to go.
At least, that’s the view of market owners Greenwich Hospital, which intends to level the place and “replace it with a new contemporary market, a new shopping centre and 104 room hotel.
A fortnight ago, Greenwich Council’s turned down the Hospital’s application but they have now appealed.
But it’s not too late. The appeal is being held at Woolwich Town Hall and open to the public. The inquiry hearings run from 7 to 10 September and from 14 to 17 September, beginning at 10am on each day. Contact the independent planning inspector Paul Bennett by email on [email protected] or call 011 7372 6372 if you want to speak.
