Lady Lazarus - Lapsarian

In this video it isn’t clear whether Lady Lazarus, aka Melissa Ann Sweat, is chopping a mountain of onions to stimulate tears or if the tears preceded the action – either way, dinner at chez Sweat looks somewhat stressful. Poached octopus anyone?
Lapsarian refers to the ‘fall of man’ according to the online thesaurus, i.e. Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden for scrumping, so yes there is a biblical theme emerging here. We’ve brought it to your attention, not only because it’s a great tune, an elegant but simplistic cocktail of voice and accordion, a Martini of the bellows if you will, but because the Californian has also contributed a track to Weary Engine Blues, the Jason Molina tribute album we touched upon briefly a few weeks ago, available here in its entirety.
Lazarus’ second album All My Love in Half Light, featuring Lapsarian, is available here.
