The Classics department at Royal Holloway is under threat. Oh, many of you philistines won’t care, I know. but I feel compelled to publicise this travesty in the hope that it can be averted. If you liked Gladiator, if you get a kick out of theatre and democracy, if you’re fond of polysyllabic words with Latinate roots, then rise up against this infamy. These languages aren’t dead. They’re only sleeping!
